Bad World Tour foi a primeira turnê solo de Michael Jackson e começou em 12 de Setembro de 1987, Tóquio, e terminou em 27 de Janeiro de 1989, Los Angeles. Durante seus dezesseis meses de duração, Michael Jackson se apresentou em quinze países e realizou um total de 123 concertos, 92 deles com lotação esgotada, para uma audiência estimada em 4.4 milhões de pessoas.
Dividida em duas partes, a primeira percorreu a Ásia e Oceania, a segunda, América do Norte, Europa e Japão - onde aconteceram os onze primeiros concertos da turnê, todos com lotação esgotada, somando um total de 450.000 (quatrocentos e cinqüenta mil) espectadores.
Durante um concerto da Bad Tour em Sidney na Austrália no dia 20 de Novembro de 1987 Stevie Wonder fez uma aparição surpresa no palco para cantar "Just Good Friends, num dueto com Michael Jackson.
Em Março de 1988 Michael Jackson performou um concerto "privado" na cidade de Nova Iorque no Madison Square Garden. Todos os rendimentos foram doados para a "United Negro College Found". Os ingressos para este show não puderam ser comprados nos locais convencionais de compra, um sistema especial de loterias foi que determinou quem receberia os ingressos. Durante "The Way You Make me Feel" deste mesmo concerto, Tatiana Thumbtzen (a garota que aparece no clipe desta mesma música) beijou ele no palco.
Em Londres, a Bad World Tour entrou para o "Guiness" - o livro dos recordes - ao apresentar sete concertos com lotação esgotada no Estádio de Wembley, para uma audiência estimada em 504.000 pessoas. Mais tarde, Jackson quebraria este recorde com a Dangerous World Tour na Cidade do México.
A Bad World Tour tornou-se a turnê mais rentável da história, levando aos cofres de Michael Jackson uma fortuna estimada em 128 milhões de dólares.
